Fine bone china

    Bone china is a type of porcelain that is composed of bone ash, feldspar and kaolin. Developed by English potter Josiah Spode, in 1797, bone china is known for its hardness, high level of whiteness,  translucency and durability. It is also thinner than other types of porcelain. The translucency of bone china is known for being the highest for porcelain , which artists often use to create semi-transparent appearances in their works.The traditional formulation for bone china is about 25% kaolin, 25% Cornish stone and 50% bone ash. The bone ash that is used in bone china is made from cattle bones that have a lower iron content.

    In some place they called porcelian contains more than 25% bone ash (mainly Ca3 (Po4) 2 ) as bone china, therefore high grade fine china manufacturer like Wedgwood call their bone china to fine bone china with aproximately 50% herbivores bone ashes. Our fine bone china contains 45.19% herbivores bone ashes (mainly Ca3 (Po4) 2 ) mixed with Chinese Kaolin and cornish stone coated with lead-free galze.
